Microsoft claims Windows 11 is now 20% more responsive, with significant improvements to memory management and background resource consumption. The system prioritizes user-initiated tasks while reducing overhead elsewhere.
On PCs with 8 GB of RAM or less, the company has made targeted optimizations. Widgets now load only when opened rather than running in the background, freeing up more than 200 MB of memory for applications and other tasks. This change alone should noticeably improve performance on lower-spec machines.
These improvements are rolling out gradually through system updates, so not all users will see them immediately. The changes reflect Microsoft's effort to make Windows 11 more efficient on mainstream hardware rather than only high-end systems.
