Stripe has reportedly completed a deal to acquire OpenRouter for $7 billion, according to TechCrunch. OpenRouter operates as a hub for AI models, providing a single API that gives developers access to over 400 different language models without needing to integrate with each platform individually.
The startup claims to serve more than 8 million users. OpenRouter already uses Stripe for processing customer payments, creating an existing relationship that likely informed the acquisition.
