A firmware update for Samsung's Bespoke AI four-door refrigerators from 2024 onward has caused widespread failures, leaving units unable to function and food spoiling inside. The update triggered abnormal power supply behavior that rendered affected appliances inoperable.
The problem is most prevalent in South Korea, though the exact number of affected units and countries impacted remain unclear. Samsung has halted distribution of the problematic update and is deploying technicians to replace motherboards in damaged refrigerators at no cost to consumers.
