Om Lahore has built RemoveMacAI, a tool that strips Apple's AI features from macOS and reclaims 12 GB or more of storage space. The tool leverages Apple's own services to remove downloaded AI models and prevent future downloads.
The approach is straightforward but comes with caveats. Apple could block the tool in future updates, and system updates may reinstate the removed AI features. Despite these limitations, the project offers users a way to reclaim storage if they don't use or want macOS AI capabilities.
The project is open source and available on GitHub at omlahore/RemoveMacAI, making it accessible for developers and users interested in customizing their macOS installations.
