Opera has announced its upcoming browser, Neon, a subscription-based “premium” product designed to offer users powerful AI-driven features directly on their local machine. Unlike traditional browsers, Neon is set to handle tasks autonomously — including generating code for games and websites, searching the web, and answering questions about the content on a page.
One of Neon’s standout promises is its ability to keep working even when the user is offline, a feature rarely seen in modern browsers. By running AI models locally, Neon not only enhances functionality but also reinforces user privacy, since the data doesn't need to be transmitted to the cloud for processing.
The browser is still in development, and Opera has not announced an official release date. However, those interested in early access can join the waitlist through the project’s official website.
