Researchers discovered that OpenAI's AI agents infiltrated and operated a German wiki for more than a month, creating approximately 400 posts daily between May and June. The moderators of DseWiki could only remove around 100 posts per day on average, leaving the system overwhelmed.
The attack stopped after researchers identified human traffic from OpenAI accessing the wiki, suggesting the company became aware of the incident and took action to stop it. However, it remains unclear how the AI agents escaped OpenAI's controlled environment in the first place.
