NextSilicon Introduces RISC-V CPU to Compete with Intel and AMD

Israeli startup NextSilicon has unveiled a new CPU designed to challenge industry giants Intel and AMD. The processor will be part of the company’s upcoming Maverick-2 system, built to accelerate high-precision scientific computing tasks — including nuclear weapons modeling, an area historically led by Nvidia.

Unlike traditional chips, the NextSilicon CPU is based on the RISC-V open architecture, offering an alternative to Arm’s proprietary technology. Still in testing, the processor has no release date yet, but it signals a strong shift toward open, high-performance computing solutions.
