Meta has sparked controversy with the launch of Muse Image, a free AI image generator integrated into Instagram, WhatsApp, and the Meta AI app. The tool allows users to manipulate almost any photo from public Instagram profiles to create new AI-generated visuals without notifying the original owner. This direct integration means your public posts and reels could be used as fodder for others to remix via generative AI features.
Protecting your content requires a manual opt-out buried deep within the application settings. To prevent others from using your photos with Meta's AI features, navigate to your Profile, open the Menu, and select How others can interact with you. From there, go to Sharing and remixes and toggle off the options for Allow people to reuse your content on Instagram and with Meta AI features for both Posts and Reels.
