Meta Launches Meta One Subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp

Meta is shifting its business model beyond traditional advertising with the global rollout of Meta One, a unified subscription service for its social platforms. As user growth hits market saturation, the company is introducing paid tiers to drive new revenue. In the United States, users can access Plus features for $3.99 on Instagram and Facebook or $2.99 on WhatsApp. In Brazil, WhatsApp Plus testing has already begun at 7 reais per month, offering functional upgrades while maintaining existing encryption and call features.

Subscribers to the WhatsApp tier receive exclusive animated stickers, custom color palettes, new ringtones, and the ability to pin up to twenty chats. For power users and businesses, Meta is introducing specialized high-tier packages:

  • Meta One Plus ($7.99/mo): Unlocks advanced AI capabilities for complex reasoning and media generation.
  • Meta One Premium ($19.99/mo): Provides deep reasoning tools and high-level artificial intelligence features.
  • Essential and Advanced ($up to 49.99/mo): Designed for creators and businesses, these include account verification badges, fraud protection, and increased search relevancy.

Alongside these financial changes, Meta is expanding its ecosystem with Forum, a standalone iPhone application dedicated to Facebook Groups. This app features a streamlined interface and an integrated AI chatbot that allows users to query information based on real-time discussions within their specific communities, bridging the gap between social interaction and automated data retrieval.
