Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, claims that artificial general intelligence (AGI) has arrived with OpenAI's launch of GPT-6 Astra. AGI refers to software capable of performing most of the intellectual work that a human can accomplish. According to Huang, AI has crossed a threshold that experts believed was years away.
However, OpenAI did not make this same assertion when launching Astra. The company has been more cautious in its public statements about the system's capabilities, even as the industry continues to debate what truly constitutes AGI and whether current systems have actually achieved it.
