Human agents are four times more effective than AI at converting contacts into sales opportunities, according to research by Bold Agent Kit. The company analyzed 14,000 incoming calls across its clients, with approximately 6,300 directed to AI systems and 7,600 to human representatives.
The data reveals a stark difference in caller behavior. When handled by AI, the rate of people hanging up before advancing in the conversation was 700% higher than with human agents. Meanwhile, human agents missed about 15% more calls than automated systems—a trade-off reflecting the inherent limits of human availability.
Bold Agent Kit emphasizes an important caveat: answering more calls doesn't automatically generate more sales. The quality of the interaction matters far more than volume. While AI systems can handle greater call volume, their lower conversion rates suggest they struggle with the nuance, rapport-building, and problem-solving that drive actual business outcomes.
