Epic Games has released a new desktop application built with AI that significantly outpaces Steam's performance on Windows. In testing, the Epic Games store opened in 5.47 seconds compared to Steam's 10.07 seconds—a 46% improvement. Application restoration from the system tray was similarly faster, taking 0.36 seconds versus Steam's 0.42 seconds, representing a 14% advantage.
The application is currently in testing phase and available for download on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The performance gains underscore Epic's effort to streamline the user experience and offer a more responsive platform for desktop users across multiple operating systems.
