Google Denies Leak of 183 Million Gmail Accounts

Google has officially refuted claims about a supposed leak of 183 million Gmail accounts. The rumor began after Troy Hunt, creator of the security platform Have I Been Pwned, added a database containing millions of compromised credentials.

Some media outlets reported these accounts were from Gmail, but Hunt clarified that this was incorrect. According to him, 91% of the data had already been exposed in previous breaches, forming part of an old compilation of credentials stolen through malware and past cyberattacks — not a new Gmail data leak.
