Brazil Ranks Second Globally in DDoS Attacks

Brazil has emerged as the second most targeted nation for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks globally, accounting for 19.68% of all incidents documented by NSFOCUS. This surge places Brazil ahead of other heavily targeted nations like Turkey and Bangladesh, trailing only China, which remains the primary target at 26.64%.

Cybercriminals are increasingly focusing on emerging markets where internet infrastructure is expanding rapidly but security measures often lag behind. The core vulnerabilities attracting these high volumes of traffic include:

  • Rapid internet expansion that outpaces the deployment of robust defensive protocols.
  • Large numbers of unprotected devices and IoT hardware being brought online.
  • Relatively weak cyber defenses across both public and private sectors compared to more established tech hubs.

The concentration of attacks in these regions suggests that attackers are shifting their focus toward environments where they can achieve the maximum disruptive impact with lower barriers to entry.
