YouTube to Automatically Label AI-Generated Content

YouTube is tightening its transparency rules by implementing automatic labels for content generated with artificial intelligence. This system triggers specifically when creators fail to disclose the use of AI tools during the upload process. The placement of these labels depends on the format: for standard long-form videos, the tag appears prominently directly below the player and above the description, while YouTube Shorts will feature the label as an overlay directly on the video screen.

Not all modifications will trigger the prominent alert. Material that is clearly unrealistic, animated, or only slightly altered will have its disclosure tucked away within the expanded description section. Crucially, these new identification tags are informative and do not impact how a video is recommended or monetized by the platform's algorithms. This move follows YouTube's ongoing effort to help viewers distinguish between synthetic and authentic digital content.
