Wikipedia Bans AI-Generated Articles on English Site

The English version of Wikipedia has officially banned the use of Artificial Intelligence to write or rewrite full articles. This new policy ensures that the platform maintains its standard for human-curated content.

What is Permitted?

• Basic Suggestions: Editors may still use Large Language Models (LLMs) for minor editing ideas.
• Translations: AI tools remain accessible for translating existing content between different languages.

Enforcement Rules

Wikipedia stated that an AI-like writing style alone is not enough to penalize a user. Instead, administrators will evaluate whether the content follows platform guidelines and review the editor’s recent history. These restrictions currently apply only to the English Wikipedia.
