Brazil's antitrust authority, CADE, has ordered WhatsApp to suspend its new policy banning competitor AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, from operating within the app starting January 15.
The policy cited system overload as the reason for the shutdown. During the suspension, CADE will probe whether Meta's rules unfairly favor its own Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp.
This ensures continued access to third-party AI tools for Brazilian users.
