Unix Co-Creator Finds Rust "Painful"

Brian Kernighan, 83-year-old Unix co-creator and Princeton lecturer, recently shared his negative experience with the Rust programming language.

Kernighan described Rust's memory safety mechanisms as confusing. He also found both the compiled code and the compiler itself to be slow.

Though he admits to a single encounter with the language, Kernighan believes Rust won't immediately replace C. This perspective comes from a foundational figure in computing, as reported by The New Stack.
