Twitter and Pinterest Founders Launch Tangle App to Combat Social Media Addiction

Biz Stone, Twitter cofounder, and Evan Sharp, Pinterest cofounder, have officially launched Tangle, a new app from startup West Co. Backed by $29 million from Spark Capital, Tangle targets the "devastation of the human mind" caused by addictive social media algorithms.

Unlike traditional platforms, Tangle is invite-only, with no likes or mass sharing. It helps users live with purpose by letting them set personal goals and share daily intentions with a small circle of trusted friends. This fosters a conscious, less reactive routine.

Every morning, a notification prompts users to define their daily intention. The app emphasizes private support for real-life goals, avoiding constant distractions.

In Brazil, Tangle is available on iOS but requires invites from existing users. Biz Stone notes: creating tools for healthy digital navigation is tough but essential to reclaim humanity online. Success is measured not by screen time, but by users logging off to pursue real-world plans.
