Suno has released a new AI model trained exclusively on licensed music, a strategic move amid ongoing legal battles over copyright infringement. The company partnered with major record labels and distributors including Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe to source training data legally.
The update introduces three new versions: Suno v6 and Suno v6-wild, both available to paying subscribers, and Suno v6-mini, a faster variant open to all users. The company has committed to phasing out older models entirely, signaling a full transition to the licensed approach.
This move reflects Suno's attempt to resolve copyright tensions with the music industry while continuing to develop its generative music capabilities. By securing agreements with established rights holders, the company aims to balance innovation with legal compliance.
