Overview Energy has achieved a breakthrough in wireless power transmission, successfully beaming energy from a moving airplane to the ground.
In the test, reported by IEEE Spectrum, an aircraft at 5,000 meters altitude directed infrared laser beams to solar panels below. The panels converted the light into electricity, proving the concept's viability.
The startup aims to scale this for geostationary satellites that harvest solar energy in space and transmit it back to Earth by 2030.
