OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Translate, a new tool challenging Google Translate. It supports over 50 languages and lets users select translation styles like fluent, formal, or academic for tailored results.
Currently available only via web and for text input, ChatGPT Translate promises more nuanced translations powered by OpenAI's AI.
In a major parallel move, OpenAI signed a deal worth over $10 billion with Cerebras, an AI chip maker. Cerebras will supply 750 megawatts of computational capacity starting this year, with deliveries through 2028. This boosts OpenAI's infrastructure for faster model responses.
