Microsoft's latest security update addresses a massive haul of 137 CVEs, featuring 30 vulnerabilities classified as critical. Most notably, 14 of these bugs earned a CVSS severity score of 9.0 or higher, with one specific flaw reaching the maximum theoretical severity of 10.0.
While the volume of high-risk patches is significant, there is a silver lining for IT administrators: according to reports from The Register, none of these vulnerabilities appear to have been actively exploited in the wild prior to the release. The updates cover a wide range of products, making immediate patching the primary defense against potential exploitation now that these weaknesses are public knowledge.
