LG has unveiled its new Oxide 1Hz LED display technology, designed to significantly improve laptop efficiency. By dynamically adjusting the refresh rate between 1 Hz and 120 Hz, the panel can extend battery life by up to 48%.
The system works by dropping to 1 Hz during static tasks to save power and ramping up to 120 Hz when high fluidity is required. Dell is the first manufacturer to implement these panels in its latest XPS laptop line.
While the current technology is LED-based, LG plans to start mass production of OLED versions using the same Oxide 1Hz technology in 2027.
