Laravel MCP Now Available in Public Beta

Laravel has officially launched Laravel MCP, a new package designed to streamline the creation and deployment of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for Laravel applications. Despite being labeled as beta, the solution already demonstrates production-ready stability.

What is Laravel MCP?

Laravel MCP is a comprehensive framework that enables developers to:

  • Define routes and servers effortlessly
  • Create custom prompts
  • Build AI-powered applications with ease

The package integrates seamlessly with the Laravel ecosystem, offering immediate compatibility with:

  • Laravel Passport for OAuth authentication
  • Laravel Sanctum for token-based authentication

The Complete AI Development Stack

Laravel MCP is designed to work alongside Laravel Boost, creating a first-party product suite for complete AI development experiences. Notably, Laravel Boost itself was built using Laravel MCP behind the scenes.

To demonstrate real-world implementation, the team released Locket, a demo application showcasing MCP in action.

Why It Matters

According to Ashley Hindle, Laravel's AI Engineering Lead:

"With over one billion users sending more than 20 billion messages to AI chat apps weekly, it's time to meet them where they are."

Requirements

  • Laravel 10, 11, or 12
  • PHP 8.1 or higher

Laravel MCP positions the framework as a serious contender in the AI application development space, providing developers with powerful tools to build modern, intelligent applications.
