FBI Links North Korean Hackers to $6.3 Billion Binance Cryptocurrency Theft

The FBI has attributed a massive $6.3 billion cryptocurrency theft from Binance to North Korean hackers operating under the name TraderTraitor, a campaign linked to the notorious Lazarus group. The attackers converted stolen assets into Ethereum and routed them through decentralized platforms to obscure the money trail and evade tracking.

Binance is gradually reopening withdrawals on its platform and has already covered 95% of the stolen assets. The exchange also experienced a net outflow of $3.6 billion in funds—equivalent to 2.1% of its total assets under management—as users responded to the breach.
