Facebook now offers a free verification badge through Facebook Verified, allowing users to prove their account belongs to a real person. The feature works by requiring users to record a brief selfie video, which Facebook then compares against existing photos on their profile.
The verification is optional and available only to users 18 and older. This new approach gives account holders an easy way to add legitimacy to their profiles without paying for verification, while helping Facebook reduce fraudulent and impersonated accounts on its platform.
