The European Union has classified ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox as "very large online platforms" under the Digital Services Act, triggering stricter regulatory requirements for each service.
This designation kicks in once platforms surpass 45 million monthly active users in the EU. The three services have now crossed that threshold, obligating them to implement a range of compliance measures. Companies must remove illegal content, strengthen protections for minors' privacy, and meet additional transparency and safety standards mandated by the act.
The deadline for compliance is the end of December. Failure to meet these obligations carries steep penalties—fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue.
