Duolingo has officially reversed its policy of evaluating employee performance based on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The decision comes after internal concerns that the policy forced teams to use technology even when it didn't add value to their tasks.
CEO Luis von Ahn acknowledged that mandatory AI integration could compromise work quality. Moving forward, the company will shift its focus back to efficient task execution and performance results rather than the specific tools used. Despite this change, Duolingo remains committed to AI development, but prioritizes human expertise for high-quality outcomes.
According to reports from TechSpot, the primary goal is now to ensure that technology serves the project, not the evaluation metric.
