DeepSeek has launched DeepSeek Harness v0.2 in public preview, now available as native applications for macOS and Windows. The tool is an open-source agent harness that deploys AI agents to handle computer tasks far beyond code generation—organizing files, analyzing data, producing documents and presentations, researching information, executing scripts, and managing background activities.
For developers, the agent can explore repositories, fix bugs, implement features, run tests, and preview code changes directly within the interface. The architecture is built entirely on a plugin model using the Cordis framework, allowing you to add new tools, skills, and UI elements. You can even create plugins through conversation using Creator mode.
Official plugins include experimental features like Agent teams, Auto approval review, Scheduled tasks, and Voice input. A trajectory visualization shows every step executed, tool calls, and runtime details to help debug issues. The project is available on GitHub under the MIT license and works with other OpenAI-compatible providers and endpoints. DeepSeek notes the software remains in developer preview, evolves rapidly, and may introduce breaking changes.
