The Privacy Risks of Google Chrome
Recent reports highlight that Google Chrome provides minimal protection against device fingerprinting. Privacy expert Alexander Hanff warns that the browser allows at least 30 different tracking techniques to operate actively.
What is Fingerprinting?
Fingerprinting identifies users by collecting specific device data, including:
- Operating system versions
- Screen resolution
- Installed fonts and browser plugins
This data creates a unique "digital fingerprint," allowing advertisers to track users across the web without their consent. Compared to privacy-focused browsers like Brave and Firefox, Chrome lags significantly in securing user anonymity.
