The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is set to upgrade its officiating technology by integrating the iPhone 17 Pro into its Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) system.
Key Details of the Implementation:
- High-Resolution Tracking: 28 iPhones will be positioned around the stadium to record matches in 4K resolution at 100 frames per second.
- Digital Twins: The footage will create a real-time digital replica of the game, allowing for precise tracking of player movements and ball positioning.
- Efficiency: The system aims to provide faster and more accurate offside decisions, reducing VAR delays.
Rollout Plan
The technology will debut at the Maracanã and will be utilized across all Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A matches. This move positions the CBF at the forefront of mobile-integrated sports technology, leveraging smartphone camera power to assist referees in high-stakes moments.
