Bluetooth Gets Nearly 4x Faster: High Data Throughput Reaches 7.5 Mb/s by 2027

Bluetooth is about to get a significant speed boost. The new High Data Throughput technology increases the maximum transmission rate of Bluetooth Low Energy from 2 Mb/s to 7.5 Mb/s—nearly quadrupling current speeds.

This upgrade opens doors for demanding wireless applications. High-resolution audio, spatial audio, and multi-channel surround sound can now transmit over Bluetooth without the latency and quality compromises that plague today's connections. Wearables like smartwatches and smart glasses will sync faster with phones, and the improvement extends to any device that benefits from quick, reliable wireless data transfer.

The catch: new hardware is required. Devices supporting High Data Throughput won't arrive until 2027, so there's a wait ahead before the speed gains reach consumers.
