Australia has implemented a new rule prohibiting music created entirely by AI from competing in the country's official music charts. Under this policy, only releases that are substantially created by humans are eligible for ranking consideration.
The regulation allows AI as a supportive tool throughout the production process, provided that humans remain responsible for writing the content, recording primary vocals, and playing primary instruments. AI remains permitted for other production stages such as mastering, as well as for tools like drum machines and Auto-Tune, which have long been standard in music production.
