Apple Launches M6 and M5 Ultra Chips With Significant Performance Gains

Apple has announced its latest chip lineup with the M6 and M5 Ultra processors, delivering substantial performance improvements across its Mac lineup. The M6 features two additional CPU and GPU cores compared to its M5 predecessor, translating to up to 1.2x faster multithread performance and 2.4x gains over the original M1.

The M5 Ultra shows equally impressive gains, offering up to 1.25x faster single-thread performance and 1.3x multithread speed compared to the M3 Ultra. Both chips arrive in new hardware: the Mac mini with M6 and the Mac Studio with M5 Ultra, both launching on September 22.

Pricing reflects the performance jump. The M6 Mac mini starts at $899, up 50% from the previous $599 M4 model, while the M5 Ultra Mac Studio begins at $5,499. These figures come directly from Apple's official newsroom announcement.
