Google is introducing Motion Assist, a new Android feature designed to combat motion sickness when using your phone in a car. The technology uses your device's accelerometer and gyroscope to display moving reference points along the edges of the screen that sync with the vehicle's movements—sliding left when the car turns right, or moving forward when it brakes, for example.
Available starting with Android 17, Motion Assist can be toggled on automatically or activated manually through Quick Settings. The feature is rolling out gradually to users, offering a practical solution for passengers who experience discomfort from the sensory mismatch between their phone's static display and the vehicle's motion.
