OpenAI Introduces Autonomous Coding Agent Integrated into ChatGPT

OpenAI has announced a powerful new addition to ChatGPT: an autonomous coding agent called Codex. This advanced tool is designed to assist developers by writing cleaner code, following instructions more accurately, and even testing its own solutions—all without human intervention.

According to OpenAI, Codex can also connect directly to GitHub repositories, making it easier to streamline development workflows. For simple tasks such as creating basic features, fixing bugs, or answering programming-related questions, the agent typically takes between 1 and 30 minutes to deliver results.

At launch, this feature is available exclusively to subscribers of the Pro, Enterprise, and Team plans. This integration is another step toward making AI a more powerful partner in software development.

The announcement was originally reported by TechCrunch, highlighting OpenAI’s continued efforts to push the boundaries of AI-assisted programming.
