Last month, specialists at the Computer History Museum successfully recovered UNIX V4 data from a 1973 magnetic tape found in storage. This marks a pivotal moment as UNIX V4 represents the rewrite of the kernel and core tools from Assembly to C language.
The recovered contents were organized to allow system booting on original hardware or emulators. In addition to UNIX V4, the tape also contained the game Hunt The Wumpus and sections of a 1972 C compiler. This significant discovery was reported by Slashdot.
