Global Helium Supply at Risk: QatarEnergy Halts Production After Drone Attacks

QatarEnergy, a global leader in helium production, has suspended operations for over two weeks following drone attacks earlier this month. Amid rising Middle East tensions, this shutdown has removed approximately 30% of the world’s helium supply from the market.

Helium is a critical component in the semiconductor industry, used primarily for cooling silicon wafers during manufacturing. Currently, there are no viable substitutes for the gas in this process.

The company’s CEO confirmed that production will remain offline until the risk of further attacks is mitigated. Industry experts warn that a prolonged shortage could significantly impact global chip manufacturing and lead to hardware price increases.
